Nominating Committee

The work of the church is under the governance of the nine-member Session moderated by the pastor.  Each fall three ruling elders are elected to serve for three years on the Session.  Ruling elders may not serve consecutive terms.  Two financial secretaries keep the monetary record of church giving and serve staggered three year terms.  It is the responsibility of the nominating committee to recruit a slate for the fall meeting where the congregation votes for new elders and if necessary, a financial secretary.   Occasionally a resignation or a move requires identifying a financial secretary or a ruling elder to serve the remainder of the vacated term.  In the event of a transition in pastors, the nominating committee helps compose the portion of the Pastor Nominating Committee elected from the congregation.
